Technical translations from German, Finnish, and
English into Swedish
In order to sell products on the Swedish market you need manuals, web sites and
other technical documentation in Swedish.
I have been working with translation
of technical documentation
from German, Finnish, and English into
Swedish for many years. My special fields of interest is construction,
engineering, science, automation, robotics, electronics, computers, programming
and engines.
Company form and memberships
The business is operated as a sole
proprietor with no employees, but with a large network. I am a member of
SFÖ – Swedish Association of Professional Translators
SKTL – The Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters
FinSve – Finnish-Swedish Chamber of Commerce.
The process of translation
I do my translations with the
translation memory, which means that everything I translate is stored in a
database and can be reused. It is very cost effective and time saving for the
translation of technical documentation, often in similar versions for different
product variants. Quotations and tenders are also often similar, but need to be
adapted to each case.
The source text is often a formatted
document with pictures, made in Word, HTML, InDesign, FrameMaker, or AutoCAD.
With a conversion software I make a tagged version of the text that easily can
be handled and translated in my translation tool, SDL TRADOS Studio. After
translation the text is returned in the original format, and probably only
needs minor adjustments to create a publication-ready document.
Other language combinations and requirements
For translations in other languages
directions or in other areas of expertise I work together with other
translators. I can also, through partners, deliver certified translations of
legal documents.
